Annie Oakley
Another lovely day on the rifle range today. We've actually been lucky. It has been cold, never above 50 degrees except for Monday afternoon, but we haven't been rained on yet. Let's hope the trend holds.
I am shooting well; this is my forte. I earned 243 points out of a possible 250 today, the best I've ever shot on the range. I feel pretty good, but I think I can do better. Marksman is 190 points, Sharpshooter is 210 points, and Expert is 220 points, but I'm not satisfied with 220, I'm shooting for company (250 lieutenants) high shooter. I was really close in boot camp, I'm not going to miss this time. I'm shooting well on the pistol as well, shooting for company high there.
A fellow lieutenant remarked to me that his shooting wouldn't look so bad if he "didn't have to shoot next to Annie Oakley here." I couldn't think of a female lieutenant who was near us on the range so I asked, "who are you talking about?" Apparently he was talking about me. Sounds like a bad nickname in the making.
